Every day, hundreds of motivated StepStone employees give of their very best to assist our customers and candidates.
Every single one of us has his or her own area of expertise. We really believe that companies are only as great as the people behind them. Which is why we think it's important that our employees get all the opportunities they deserve.
The fact that a lot of our managers have been recruited internally is a good example of this. But even within an individual role, there is ample room to grow.
Every employee at StepStone has the opportunity to come up with new ideas and put forward creative proposals. We could give you a very theoretical explanation why people love working at StepStone but we prefer to let our employees do the talking.
Quotes from some our colleagues
"I am a StepStoner because StepStone is international and pretty damn cool!"
~ Roland Engler, Web Design
"I am a StepStoner because StepStone is international and pretty damn cool!" Roland Engler has now been at StepStone for eight years - an unusually long time for a design specialist like him. "As a designer for the entire StepStone Group, I design graphical web elements and CI guidelines for all StepStone countries. Every national market has its own peculiarities which I need to keep in mind. That makes the whole job hugely varied. And there is still plenty of space for creative ideas," reports Engler, a passionate musician. The opportunity of getting your own skills across on an international stage is a real challenge for all StepStoners. "StepStone is a pretty damn cool company. And what's my job like? Like a good song: independent and sometimes just a little loud, but only in the right places. So it's right on my wavelength."
"I am a StepStoner, because working here is never boring!"
~ Joëlle Van Liefferinge, Human Ressources
"It’s possible to find a painting, a statue or a landscape beautiful without being able to say exactly why. It’s the same with StepStone. For me, this company is a fantastic combination of elements I find hard to summarize in just a few sentences, even after more than seven years! As HR manager, I can but encourage candidates to apply and join in the adventure. Likewise, I can but recommend that our prospective customers give our tools a try… I use them and they make my life a whole lot easier every day!"
"I am a StepStoner because I love thinking in numbers all the time!"
~ Deniz Cüccam, Finance Controlling
"I am a StepStoner because because I love thinking in numbers all the time!" Finance Controlling - part of the company which is often seen as boring and monotonous. Way off the mark! At least if you're doing the job at a company which is growing as fast as StepStone - like Deniz Cüccam. "Things never get boring at all at StepStone. We are committed to our results. And to play a role in company planning with this kind of backdrop is hugely exciting and motivating," explains Cüccam, who is also a father. Of course, number crunching is one of the things we have to do every day. "Our department is a big team and we work well together. This is important, as otherwise we might drown completely in the sea of numbers," says Deniz Cüccam.
"I am a StepStoner, because I get the change to take over responsibilities and develop on an international level!"
~ Johan Bové, Web developer
"Five years ago, I was already quite adept at creating great websites but without a college degree, applying for jobs was really difficult. StepStone believed in me and gave me the chance to start as a web designer in the Customer Service team. It immediately struck me how my input was genuinely appreciated. I could completely do my thing. You have to keep evolving in IT and StepStone gives you the space to do just that. Before I realized it I was working together with the CTO on a new design for the international StepStone website and I was designing brochures for the Belgian marketing department. When it appeared that they needed an experienced web designer in the international development team, I was the first to get the chance to apply. A chance I naturally couldn’t overlook."
"I am a StepStoner because we recognise and utilise trends!"
~ Christoph Schneppe, International Sales
"I am a StepStoner because we recognise and utilise trends!" International Recruitment is set to play an increasingly important role for European companies in the future. The StepStone expert in this area is Christoph Schneppe, who has been an established StepStoner for many years. His main role is to support customers looking for qualified personnel around the world. "What has always made StepStone different is the fact that it has recognised market trends early and reacted to them. This is an important reason for our success. Being involved here gives me the feeling that I am doing the right job in the right place," explains Christoph Schneppe. Of course, the Key Account Manager is not working alone, but alongside a strong team of marketing and sales specialists. "Teamwork is not just an empty phrase at StepStone - it's something we really believe in. We work hard together to meet our targets, but also know how to celebrate properly when we achieve them," says Schneppe.
"I am a StepStoner because StepStone offers me plenty of possibilities to develop!"
~ Koen Van Waeyenberghe, Sales
"StepStone offers plenty of opportunities to develop your skills in an exciting environment. They have gone through a significant evolution in recent years and the years to come look even better. I am really glad to be able to grow with them!"
"I am a StepStoner because every day is a challenge!"
~ Angelika Freese, Reception
"I am a StepStoner because every day is a challenge!" You could say that Angelika Freese is the heart of StepStone. She welcomes visitors to StepStone, arranges international meetings and is always there to listen to StepStoners. "My job is varied and covers a wide range of tasks. We have so many employees and the main thing is to organise them. Believe me, that is not always easy. But I still make sure that they can all do a good job. That is the challenge I face every day," explains Angelika Freese, who has now been working for StepStone for four years. StepStone is an international company. The company headquarters in Düsseldorf often plays host to suppliers, employees and customers from many different countries. "It is often a question of being spontaneous and being able to react to unforeseen events. I couldn't do my job without my English skills, a healthy sense of humour, and, above all, a touch of stubbornness."
