In cooperation with Stepstone, SPORT1 will broadcast the relegation second leg between FC Viktoria and HSV live on Sunday from 4:55 p.m. on free TV

Ismaning / Duesseldorf, 12 June 2023 – Showdown for promotion to the Women's 2nd Bundesliga: SPORT1 will show the relegation second leg between FC Viktoria Berlin and Hamburger SV on Sunday, 18 June, live from 16:55 CEST on free TV as well as in the 24/7 stream on SPORT1.de and in the SPORT1 apps. Both Viktoria and HSV are currently dreaming of making the leap into the 2nd Bundesliga: Viktoria, champions of the Regionalliga Nordost, have set themselves the Bundesliga as their big goal in the future, but HSV won the Regionalliga Nord confidently and should also stand up to them in the Lichterfelde stadium. HSV won the first leg 3-0.
The broadcast from Berlin is realized with the support of Viktoria's main sponsor Stepstone. Back in November 2022, SPORT1, in cooperation with Stepstone, broadcast Viktoria Berlin's Regionalliga match against Türkiyemspor Berlin (2-1) live, thus ensuring more visibility of women's football - because it was also the free TV premiere for Viktoria. SPORT1 will also significantly expand its involvement in women's football from the new season: Germany's leading multichannel sports platform will broadcast 22 top matches of the Women's Bundesliga live and free-to-air for all football fans on Monday evening as the highlight of each matchday.

Lisa Währer, Managing Director at FC Viktoria Berlin: "We would like to thank our partners Stepstone and SPORT1 for breaking new ground with us. The broadcast of the decisive relegation match is another highlight for us and for women's football."
Thorsten Otte, CFO of The Stepstone Group: "As the main sponsor of FC Viktoria Berlin, we are very pleased to be able to broadcast a women's regional league match on free TV for the second time. Through our commitment as a long-term partner of Viktoria, we want to ensure more visibility of women's football – and thus also contribute to more equal opportunities."
Annika Rody, Director Media Rights at SPORT1: "During our first live broadcast of Viktoria Berlin, we announced that we would continue to support this exciting club project on its envisaged path to the Women's Bundesliga. Therefore, we are now very pleased to present Viktoria's relegation second leg for promotion to the 2nd league against HSV again on the big free TV stage and to expand the great partnership with Viktoria Berlin. This broadcast underlines our great commitment and is also a nice foretaste of our live matches from the Women's Bundesliga in the new season."

FC Viktoria Berlin women's team with prominent support and high capital investment
Changing football in Germany in the long term and leading the FC Viktoria Berlin women's team into the Bundesliga - that was the motivation of former Germany international and two-time world champion Ariane Hingst when she took over the FC Viktoria Berlin women's team together with Verena Pausder, Tanja Wielgoß, Felicia Mutterer, Katharina Kurz and Lisa Währer in July 2022. Part of the Supervisory Board is Franziska van Almsick, who was born in Berlin. In addition to van Almsick, who is also an investor herself, another 86 investors have joined the project, including prominent names such as Maria Höfl-Riesch, Carolin Kebekus, Nikeata Thompson, Dunja Hayali and Lea-Sophie Cramer. A total of one million euros in capital will flow into the team. The job platform Stepstone, which is one of The Stepstone Group's leading digital recruiting platforms, has been the main sponsor of FC Viktoria Berlin since the 22/23 season and enables the relegation match to be broadcast on Sport1 - thus ensuring more attention and visibility of women's football.

The Women's Bundesliga from the 2023/2024 season live on SPORT1
SPORT1 is increasingly involved in women's football and offers the Women's Bundesliga the big primetime stage on free TV until 2027: Sport1 GmbH has acquired an extensive rights package for the 2023/2024 to 2026/2027 seasons for evaluation in Germany when the German Football Association (DFB) awarded the media rights to the Google Pixel Women's Bundesliga. The core of the package is 22 live games per season, which SPORT1 will present at prime time on Monday evening. In addition, Germany's leading multichannel sports platform will accompany the league, the clubs and, above all, the players on match days and throughout the week with all-round coverage on free TV on SPORT1, on SPORT1.de and the SPORT1 apps, their audio offerings and their social media platforms with around seven million fans and followers.
